This precious video is from the first Talent Show

ever held at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital

in the early 90's.  Great fun!!!  Happy times!!!

(And I have to say that Bernard has the cutest cousin in the land!!!)

I spent 20 wonderful years at

Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.

(March 17, 1991 -- June 20, 2011)

My former boss did this sweet video for me

on my last day within Le Bonheur's Child Life Department.

I will always cherish my time with this very special institution.

Connecting with Kids: A special gift eases hospital fears.

Bernard is a 4-year-old boy who has been through over 5,600 surgeries

 and worked in the hospital with kids for over 30 years!

Nathan meets with Bernard, The Hospital Puppet,

and Bernard's mommy, Diana Chiles,

to talk about their gifted work with the special needs community.
 

Diana and Bernard came to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in 1991.

Before Bernard became a Tennessee boy, he was a patient at the 

Mississippi Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) in Jackson, MS.

This sweet video was filmed in 1980,

a year after Diana and Bernard began their work together ....

and one week after Matt and Brad's baby sister, Amanda, died.

This was the first time Bernard was featured on television.

Even after all these years, this video still touches my heart.

In this video, Diana Chiles explains the power behind puppet therapy.

Bernard helps prepare children and their families for surgery.
