Diana M. Chiles

"I have been young, and now I am old;
yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken,
nor his seed begging bread."
Psalm 37:25
I have included a few pictures from the days of my youth.

Sweet Sixteen! December 22, 1964.
I was a junior in high school.
From left to right, beautiful Cheryl, Ruthie, Helen, me, and Marilyn,
my friends from my high school days.
The girl standing is Ruth Welting. Ruthie became a gifted and famous opera singer.
Ruthie died of cancer on December 16, 1999, in her home in Asheville, North Carolina.
The girl on the right, in the dark shirt, is Marilyn Hettinger, who is still my good friend today.
The next picture is of my awesome cousin, Joe Lawton Ruthven, who has been more like a brother to me than a cousin.
You can see pictures of Joe and Karen's three sons, Niles, Zach, and Tyler, under Annaliese's page!
And then there is a picture of Greg (Joe's younger brother) and me . . . Don't we look alike?
We have that "Chiles Look".
The next picture is of my sister, Charlene, with Greg.

Diana and cousin Joe Lawton Ruthven, Diana with cousin Greg Ruthven, Charlene with Greg.
Joe and Greg's sister, Kay Ruthven Hagan,
is a North Carolina Senator for District 27.
And now, Kay is running for the U.S. Senate!!!!!!
Kay is following in the shoes of her uncle, Lawton Chiles.
"Walkin Lawton"
Lawton began his political career in 1958 in the Florida House.
He served three terms as a U.S. Senator for Florida, from 1970 -- 1989;
and was the Governor of Florida from 1990 -- 1998..
There is no limit to what Kay can accomplish!
I am including pictures of some friends who gave me the honor of being in their wedding.
I was thrilled to be the Maid-of-Honor
for my wonderful friends, Sherman and Louise Dillon.
Louise was eighteen and Sherman nineteen at the time of their wedding!
All these years and seven children and several grandkids later, they are still "making music" together.
(Their sixth child - Andrew - is my God-Son!)
In 2004, Sherman ran for Governor of Mississippi on the Green Party ticket!
He is a professional musician and is highly respected as a musician through out the state of Mississippi and beyond.
Sherman is presently singing with two of his children in a marvelous Trio called the Dillionaires.
They capture the essence of American Folk Music.

The Dillionaires - Sherman, Anna, and my God-Son Andrew.

Sherman and Louise Dillon's Wedding
I was Maid of Honor for the wedding of my precious friend, Linda McKay,
who married her college sweetheart, Dick Hill.
God has lived and thrived through their marriage, their ministries, and in the lives of their three children.
They too are now grandparents.

Dick Hill is a published Author.
(Click on the above picture to read about his book.)
During my teaching days, I was a bridesmaid for my very special friends, Linda and Bob Dukes.
Bob is the President of Worldwide Discipleship Association based in Atlanta.
They have five children.

And then what would my life had been like without my amazing sister????!!!!!
My sister's husband was born and raised in Switzerland.
Ruedi didn't even speak English until he was twenty-two!
It took a Southern girl from Tennessee to win his heart!
Ruedi and Charlene were married on October 15, 1977.
I was proud to be her Maid-of-Honor.
I also sang for her wedding.

that my Sister and I took out West in the Summer of 1973.

My Mom, Grandmother, my sister, Charlene, my Uncle Bill, and me in 1977.
Another high point was my submit climb to the highest mountain peak in Wyoming in the Summer of 1985.

Linda McKay Hill and I visited our college BSU Director,
Bradley Pope and his wife, Jo Ann, last year.
"Pope" meant so much to our Christian lives during our college career.

My precious cat, Dobbins, named after my Grandmother's childhood cat.
